Ellen Page Comes Out As Gay

The actress famous for her films such as Juno and Inception announced at a speech for LGBT rights last night in Las Vegas that she is gay and 'tired of hiding'.

 

In a rousing speech for teens who were themselves dealing with the issues faced as part of the LGBT community, she revealed that after years of keeping her sexuality a secret, that she was happy to finally come out. 

 

This is yet another great step in the right direction for those gay, lesbian and transsexual individuals who still feel demonised for their sexuality. Whilst it may be a little regressive that news like this is still actually news, it's at least representative of a shift in main stream media. 

 

In the wake of the Russian stance on homosexuality, this is yet another act of bravery that we can certainly get behind!
